Color Doppler Sonography of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Abstract

Sonography has played a great role in the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. To ind out characteristic findings of HCCs using color Doppler sonography, 28 small HCCs in 26 patients with cirrhosis and hepatitis, who were examined periodically
in
Pusan National University Hospital, were studied.
Six types of blood flow of HCCs were observed : an arterial pulsating tumor vessel, a constant-flow afferent tumor, a venous pulsating afferent tumor vessel tumor vessel, a constant-flow efferent tumor vessel, and two basket patterns.
An arterial pulsating afferent tumor vessel and two constant-flow efferent tumor vessel among the findings above, are considered to be characteristic findings of HCC.
